Life is hard: often harder than we expect, but a reality we cannot escape, no matter how hard we try. We, as humans, don’t truly realize it until the weight piles up and something finally breaks. The one last straw to break the camel’s back. Struggle is an unavoidable part of being human, and it can leave us weary, day after day.
But within that hardship, life also carves out space for joy. Like the water flows that built the canyons, room is carved for us to truly live. For wonder. For laughter. For fleeting moments of connection that make the struggle worth enduring.
This painting captures one of those moments: two people, choosing joy in the middle of a storm. Dancing in the rain, not despite life’s difficulties, but because of them.
