DEATH
May 2024

There is only one guarantee in life: that is death. Yet every culture imagines life’s end so differently. For some, death is a shadow lurking beneath the bed: something to fear, to revere, to keep at a distance as it chases you with bared teeth. For others, it is a release: the soul slipping free from its mortal bindings, an achievement for the boldest and the bravest rather than an ending.
We cling to whatever vision brings us comfort. Whether that means dreaming of another life beyond this one, or finding peace in the promise of eternal rest. It is what humans do.
But who is death? A faceless gambler, throwing darts with our lives on the line? Or a lonely figure, sullen and patient, waiting in silence?
